Orkney project
completion

Stockton Drilling are delighted to have completed their latest project on the Orkney Islands.

The project started in January, during the depths of the Scottish winter, but the team managed to battle through the wind and snow to successfully complete the installation by spring. The purpose of the project was to provide a high and low pressure water pipeline to a wave energy machine situated of the south west coast of Orkney. This was achieved by using our 250t HDD rig to drill and forward ream the two 600m boreholes, followed by a pipe push from land .The scale of this pipe push was approaching the boundaries of the technology and the  team worked tirelessly to make sure it was completed successfully. As we were able to witness the full force of the waves crashing towards the shoreline, we are certain that when operational, the project will be great success for Aqaumarine Power and hopefully provide the foundations for a whole new form of energy.
